    Synopsis

    In the summer of 1944, Frank Stirn moves with his family to become a

    barber for the American Army and POW camp at Fort McCoy.

    Embittered that he cannot fight, Frank must take a stand when a Nazi

    SS Officer threatens his family. Frank’s young sister-in-law falls for a

    Jewish soldier haunted by the battle of Monte Cassino. Can their love

    overcome the obstacles to Jewish boys and Catholic girls in 1944?

    Frank’s daughter Gertie befriends a German prisoner boy during this

    magical summer, but war still finds its victims even thousands of miles

    from the battlefields.

    About The Film

    Fort McCoy was shot in Fort McCoy, La Crosse, and other locations in

    Wisconsin in August and September of 2008. It is described as “a

    coming-of-age story, a romance and the journey of one man

    struggling to find his worth in a war that does not want him.

    The film premiered at the Oldenburg International Film Festival in

    September 2010 and won the Best Feature Film prize at the Hollywood

    Film Festival in October.
